GEKA Hose fittings - GEKA couplings
How is the GEKA hose fitting constructed?
The construction of the GEKA hose fitting is extremely simple, as it has no loose parts (not counting the seal). You will recognise them firstly by the characteristic claws ('hooks') spaced 40 mm apart and the tabs on which you attach the claws of the opposite part of the connection.
The seal is positioned between the lugs, inside the coupling.
What different types of GEKA fittings are there?
GEKA fittings are available in several versions. It is divided primarily according to the intended use and type of installation. Therefore, in the offer you will find:
- GEKA couplings with hose end (also in the 360-degree rotating variety);
- GEKA couplings with male or female thread;
- couplings in the form of tees;
- caps;
- water nozzles.
In addition to this, the GEKA hose fitting also comes in several material varieties. Admittedly, brass and an NBR rubber seal are standard, but you can also choose from a stainless steel product type with a viton seal.
Thanks to its solid construction, the coupling is extremely resistant to damage and adverse operating conditions.
What are the key parameters of the GEKA hose fitting?
Although GEKA couplings do not differ in terms of the spacing between the claws (which is always 40 mm), they are available in a wide range of sizes in terms of connection options to the installation.
The diameter for hose ends ranges from 10 mm to 38 mm. However, when it comes to threaded connections, the size range extends from 3/8 to 1.5 inches. In this way, you can easily choose the right product for your needs.
However, in addition to size, the strength characteristics of the GEKA hose fitting are equally important.
The permissible working pressure is 16 bar, while the vacuum resistance reaches 10 mWC. No less important is the operating temperature range — from -5 to 100 degrees Celsius (for NBR gaskets, up to 90 degrees Celsius).
How to connect GEKA couplings together?
You will connect GEKA couplings by following the steps below
Just two moves are enough:
- First, press the two sides of the connection together.
- Then twist the couplings so that the claws engage in their designated places.
That's it! From now on, the connection guarantees a high leak tightness.
However, do not forget that the GEKA hose fitting must first be screwed onto the installation or connected to the hose. In the latter case, you will need a special clamping ring.
What is the use of GEKA hose fittings?
GEKA hose fittings are therefore used in many industries and beyond.
They are used primarily in:
- civil, road and underground engineering;
- agriculture and horticulture;
- forestry;
- horticulture;
- hydraulic systems;
- wider industry.
What are the benefits of GEKA hose fittings?
One of the biggest benefits of GEKA hose fittings is their versatility. They fit many types of installations and hoses: industrial, pressure, and even suction hoses. The few examples above do not complete the list of their uses. Because of their ease of use and durability, they are used by virtually anyone with a transmission system.
FAQ
Are GEKA couplings compatible with other claw couplings?
No, GEKA couplings are not compatible with other claw couplings. This is due to a simple fact: they differ from them in the spacing of the claws (hooks). It is therefore not possible to connect a GEKA hose fitting to another claw coupling.
Does the material of the GEKA hose fitting make a difference?
Yes, the material of the GEKA hose fitting matters in terms of the medium you will be transporting. It is on this basis that you should decide whether a connector made of brass or stainless steel is better. The same applies to the seal.
Do the GEKA couplings have a symmetrical construction?
Yes, GEKA couplings have a symmetrical construction. This means that both parts of the connection look the same. There is no division between the plug (male part) and the socket (female part). Thanks to this design, the couplings are very easy to handle.
