What is a megapascal (MPa)?

The megapascal (MPa) is a unit of pressure measurement in the SI system that represents one million pascals - 1 MPa = 1 000 000 Pa or 1 000 kPa.

The megapascal has gained popularity due to the need to more easily manage the very large pressure values that often occur in various industrial and scientific applications.

Megapascal is widely used in the industry to describe the working pressure of high-pressure hoses, such as hydraulic hoses. How to measure pressure in megapascals?

To measure pressure in megapascals (MPa), use a pressure gauge that is calibrated in this unit or in units that can be easily converted to MPa.

Here are the steps to take to measure pressure in megapascals (MPa):

  1. Choose the right manometer - The simplest device for measuring pressure in megapascals will be a digital manometer or a mechanical manometer calibrated in MPa.
  2. Identify the measuring point - Determine where you want to measure the pressure (e.g. in a hydraulic system, gas or pressure system).
