Lever lock couplings - Page 3

Lever lock couplings are couplings that contain a lever with which you close and open the connection. Lever lock couplings come in several different types, but all are characterised by a similar structure. They have a cup-shaped socket (female part) and a spherical plug (male part). Tightness is ensured by special lugs, which you tighten using the aforementioned lever. This design allows, among other things, the installation to be connected at an angle, which makes working in difficult conditions much easier.

Lever lock couplings were developed for pipe irrigation and drainage systems, but thanks to their durable construction and leak-proofness (even when dirty), they have also found applications in many other industries. Today, they are used not only to transport water, but also wastewater, chemicals, petrochemicals and food substances. Thanks to their abrasion resistance, they are also suitable for the transport of bulk materials.

Lever lock couplings - Lever lock fittings

How are lever lock couplings constructed?

Lever lock couplings are constructed mostly from 4 components - seal, safety ring with lever, plug (male part), socket (female part).

Lever lock couplings are constructed similarly regardless of the type. The type of coupling has an impact on certain design details, e.g. the position of the safety ring and seal or the permissible joint angle.

As far as the material is concerned, lever lock couplings are primarily made of galvanised steel (as standard) or stainless steel. There are also products made of aluminium.

Seals are also available in a variety of designs, but are usually made of NR rubber or SBR rubber as standard. Always select the type of seal material based on the medium to be transported.

What are the different types of lever lock couplings depending on the joint installation?

There are 4 different types of lever lock couplings depending on the joint installation:

  • lever lock couplings for hoses,
  • lever lock couplings for welding,
  • lever lock couplings with flange,
  • lever lock couplings with thread.

What are the key features of lever lock couplings?

The key features of lever lock couplings are their angled joining, robust construction, and safety under pressure. Below we describe particular features:

  • Easy to use - You can quickly open and close the couplings without any tools.
  • Angled joining - Thanks to the spherical design, you can bend the connector in any direction, up to 30 degrees (depending on the type of connector). This in no way affects the tightness and pressure resistance.
  • Robust construction - The connectors are made from high-quality steel, which ensures great strength and durability.
  • Safety - Depending on the type, lever lock couplings can withstand pressures of 10 to even 20 bar.
  • Versatility - Their characteristics make them suitable for a wide range of media.
  • Additional protection - Each connector has a special safety ring.

Lever lock couplings are clearly different from other types of couplings and therefore have their own unique characteristics.

How to connect lever lock couplings?

To connect a lever lock couplings, follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure the seal is in place.
  2. Connect the plug (male part) to the socket (female part).
  3. Hook the handles of the safety ring.
  4. Press the lever connector.

At this point, the lever lock coupling becomes fully sealed.

Don't forget that you also need to install it first. How the connector is installed depends on the end of the plug and socket.

What lever lock couplings are available in our range?

You will find 2 types of lever lock couplings in our shop offer - PERROT couplings and BAUER couplings:

  • PERROT couplings — Very popular in Poland, characterised by high resistance to contamination, easy handling and the possibility of connecting at angles of up to 15 degrees.
  • BAUER couplings — Couplings of Austrian origin, which are distinguished by the fact that they have a catch and a lever on the plug side. In addition, they allow connection at angles of up to 30 degrees and are highly resistant to high pressure.

Both types of couplings come from reputable manufacturers, so you are assured of high quality workmanship. Good-grade steel ensures that the products are highly durable and resistant to environmental conditions.

FAQ

What are lever lock couplings?

arrow-up

Lever lock couplings are a type of coupling that has a lever in its design. It is by means of this (and a special ring with catches) that it achieves tightness. It is also distinguished by its simple design, which makes it uncomplicated to use. You do not need any tools to make the joint.

What are lever lock couplings used for?

arrow-up

Lever lock couplings are primarily used to transport water and wastewater, but are also used in many other industries. These include industries such as petrochemicals, food and beverages, chemicals and bulk material handling.

Is the lever lock coupling suitable for transporting food or chemical substances?

arrow-up

Yes, the lever lock coupling is suitable for transporting foodstuffs and chemicals. However, it should be made of stainless steel to meet the requirements. In addition, the right type of seal must be selected for each medium.
