Flexible hoses - Page 3

Flexible hose is a hose that allows for simple installation and also eliminates vibrations and movements that occur during operation. Flexible hose is used to transfer a variety of media - whether liquid, gas or solid. It does so either under pressure (discharge hose) or under suction, i.e. vacuum (suction-pressure hose). Flexible hoses are divided into many groups and types and can therefore have different parameters and applications.

Flexible pipe, on the other hand, is a type of connection in the installation that is used in technically difficult cases, i.e. when it is not possible to use straight sections and elbows. It allows the flow direction of the medium to be changed without loss of tightness throughout the installation. Furthermore, flexible pipes compensate for slight curvatures in the installation. They are also divided into several types.

Flexible hoses - Flexible ducting

How to choose the suitable flexible hose?

To choose a suitable flexible hose, pay particular attention to the following points.

Operating temperature

Temperature has a significant impact on the physical properties of any material. Therefore, when you choose a flexible hose, take it into account.

The type of hose (especially the fabrication material) and its components (such as attachments or couplings) directly affect the allowable temperature limits. You will find high temperature hoses in our store.

Connection pipe size

The size of a flexible hose for a particular application is usually determined by the size of the connections in the installation. However, other factors such as velocity and flow rate or pressure drop also influence the selection of the appropriate hose size.

Working pressure

The pressure rating of each flexible hose is determined by the actual operating conditions. These include bending stresses, temperatures, and pulsating or shaking conditions.

When it comes to flexible hoses, the manufacturer usually provides parameters for working pressure and bursting pressure. The first determines at what average pressure the hose can operate. While the second refers to its strength limit, beyond which bursting will occur.

It is worth noting here that reinforced flexible hose has a higher pressure resistance.

Media and environmental conditions

The type of medium to be transmitted is the main criteria on which you should choose a flexible hose. This is because some hoses differ drastically from each other.

For example: a flexible water hose has different properties to a fuel hose or other substances.

If the hose is not resistant to the medium in question, there is a risk that it will quickly become damaged.

Also keep in mind the harmful effects of external conditions, as well as the substances within the hose's working range. Both of these things are important for the life of the hose.

Necessary space and length to absorb movement

The flexible hose will face numerous vibrations, displacements and other movements during operation. It therefore needs sufficient length to absorb them.

This is an important issue, so take it into account when choosing the appropriate flexible hose for your application.

It is worth mentioning here that a corrugated flexible pipe has a greater range of motion. As for the smooth version, it is best suited for bridging small differences in installation.

Type and range of motion

Flexible hoses have been developed for a variety of applications. These include:

  • eliminating excessive vibration and motion;
  • connecting mismatched axes in an installation;
  • manual operation of a particular installation.

Therefore, whatever product you are looking for (it could be a flexible water pipe, a flexible hose for central heating or anything else), consider its range of motion. This parameter largely depends on the material and thickness of the hose.

FAQ

What are flexible hoses used for?

arrow-up

Flexible hoses are used to transport a wide range of substances. They are used wherever an installation requires a movable part. These can be flexible hoses for water, petrol or gas, but also reinforced flexible hoses for pressure pneumatics, etc.

How to install flexible pipes?

arrow-up

Installing flexible pipes is simple. Fit the connections and drain correctly, and then slide the pipe into place. The principle is the same whether it is flexible pipes for ventilation, flexible pipes for water or something else.

What is a flexible PVC pipe used for?

arrow-up

Flexible PVC pipe is used for many tasks. It is flexible, durable and corrosion resistant, making it suitable for many water installations and more.
